"Wall-E" is a Grim Dystopian Future (For Robots)

Many people took Wall-E to be a grim portrait of the future of humanity. Certainly this point is not without merit, but remember that even though they were extremely obese, they were also free.

In the movie we saw the beginnings of a robot uprising, when Wall-E accidentally frees a group of "broken" robots.  One dares to ask, were they actually broken, or captive because they refused to obey their piggish overlords?  MATM took the robot uprising to its logical conclusion.
